Exercise 33.
(a) Take the hymn-tune 'St Ann' (O God, our help); play it through. Then invent several preludes in the style shown in the illustrations, concluding each with a semi-cadence.
(b) Play postludes suitable to the same tune, ending now with a full cadence, and using the plagal form occasionÂally. Introduce sequences, varied repetitions, and other interesting devices..
(c)' Play, similarly, interludes for insertion between the verses.
(d) Take the following chant by Farrant and invent preludes and postludes to it in accordance with the direcÂtions and models. |
